History
The Call
During the summer of 2005, the leadership of Grace Capital Church in Pembroke New Hampshire responded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to begin a new work in Hooksett New Hampshire. This new work took the form of an alternative or "satellite" service meeting in the Hooksett Regal Cinema. Pastors Peter and Deborah Shepherd were asked to lead this new service as "campus" pastors. The "satellite" service met at the Regal Cinema between April 2006 and April 2007.
It was early in 2007, however; that Pastor Peter Shepherd felt the call of the Holy Spirit to take the work done at the "satellite" and form it into a full church plant in the Hooksett New Hampshire area.
The Holy Spirit showed Peter visions of miraculous "crossings" at the Jordan River. The first vision was of the crossing of the Israelites as they entered the Promised Land where the waters of the Jordan were cut off so that they crossed on the dry riverbed. The second vision was of Jesus when he was baptized in the Jordan River and the miraculous demonstration of the presence of God in the persons of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This marked the "crossing over" of Jesus into His life of public ministry and the proclamation of the Gospel.
It was from these visions that the name "CrossPoint" was born. It is the heart of CrossPoint that people will experience the miracle of "crossing over" to eternal and abundant life in relationship with Jesus Christ and each other.
The Start
During the late spring and summer of 2007, those who were called to CrossPoint met and began to fellowship in small groups and large gatherings. We experienced a season of rest, prayer and preparation for the official launch which took place on September 23rd 2007.
The Connection
CrossPoint became a chartered church within the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG) in December of 2007. CrossPoint is an expression of a core value of the Foursquare Church which is to extend God's Kingdom through the "planting" of new churches. The ICFG was founded in Los Angeles, California by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923. Amidst the revival days of the early 1900's, this fellowship of believers was born determined to proclaim the solid scriptural core of Pentecostal renewal. The term "foursquare" stands for the four-fold ministry of Jesus Christ as Savior, Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, Healer and Coming King.
